This country retreat in the Surrey Hills near Dorking was the home of Edwardian hostess Mrs Greville, who entertained royalty and celebrities of the time.  Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and George (later George VI) spent part of their 5-week honeymoon there in 1923.

The gardens offer something for every season, including climbing roses at their best in June, a herbaceous border that are currently being restored to pre-war glories.

Walton on Thames 27 May 2017

These lovely flowers are a-round 5 inches across and on a tree in a little park on Sullivans Reach, behind the Riverhouse Gallery in Walton on Thames.  Does any one know what the tree is?  It is a lovely little gallery with an auditorium and a good café.

The Thames was very busy as it was Saturday and the keen rowers were taking their exercise, as well as the narrow boats and pleasure craft enjoying the good weather.
